re skimming old lime plastered walls

hi,lads,when re skimming old lime plastered walls,how do you approach em,when prepping em? did one recentley,must of give it 3 good strong coats of pva & the suction was a nightmare. got called back from the customer as there was a few hairline fractures. he even said the other spreads who came to quote all commeted how grim the suction would be. you guys use gyprime or anything else to control it? cheers

Artex sealer is pretty good gear

Well they reckon it's for high suction backgrounds ie hardwall browning .I used it once I brought 1 tub 60 pound I diluted into 3 buckets it went miles and miles for skimming great coverage.don't know if it's gone up in price that was 5 years ago .

Again Gypsum on Lime, not the way but we all do it.

Ime on and of a job at the moment, a big country mansion and the Rumanian spreads are prepping the Lime walls with PVA mixed with sand, only time will tell.

For feck sake how do they get on these jobs "Rumanian spreads" British jobs for british workers.

They are only working for a £100 a day and to be honest they turn quite a bit out and its good and they are reliable, they are there every day and always first on site and last of, thats what developers want,not saying its right but thats the fact.
