Removing Existing Sand & Cement Render

hi everyone

Long time no post....Some advice please, we have a small 2 up 2 down, solid wall (no cavities) that has been externally rendered with sand and cement then masonry painted over the render.

We need to re render as it has cracked in various places and moisture has got behind the render in a few areas creating damp and we are putting new windows and doorway in so part of it has already been hacked off

(1) The render is rock hard, any ideas on how best to remove it without causing too much damage to existing brickwork

(2) shall we re render using sand and cement or use a more modern render like KRend

(3) it's not such a large area, 5m X 5m ( scaffolding provided) so how long should that take to re render ( so I have a ball park labour cost) please

Thanks for helping

A 5kg breaker with a 50mm chisel will get it off if you know what you are doing. Once off bead up and base coat. Next day or two top coat.
