Hi guys , I was after some help regarding the rend aid product . I'm in the process of starting an old stone cottage and obviously the lack of key on the big stones was a problem so the customer has bought the rend aid product to save me slurry coatin it and taking 10 years to scratch it lol . Just wondering would it be ok to paint the rend aid on all over the big stones and joints ?? Then scratch with S+C as normal . The bag says to apply it but if I applied it he'd need a load of bags , we can't roller it on obviously because the stones are all uneven .so we were hoping to paint it all on ? Any help would appreciated thanks

You can get those hopper spray guns attached to an airline to a compressor (doesnt have to be abig one). You'd have it all sprayed on in no time. Think you can hire them? Justmask your windows doors pipes etc beforehand (y)

Yeah that sounds easier thanks ! If all else fails would it be ok to paint the rend aid on with a brush ? And il leave it set for a day or 2 before applying the s+c . Can I just go over the rend aid without dampening down yeah ?

Good luck brushing it on.
That a be hard work.
I'd prob dampen it down just to settle the dust of the joints and stone.

I'd leave it 3 days at least in this weather.

Is that Andy? Have you ever used bucket coats with these to finish? Some do. Can't see it being perfect with so much start and stop.

Never tried bucket coat i reckon it would clog up? Tyrolean is easy with them as (you dont need me to tell you) is built up in several coats so the "stop start" isnt really an issue regard a piecing for example

To be honest if they could do bucket coats to a really good standard I'd sell the eze. It's the only reason I got one. Didn't know there was a cheap alternative :-/

Id defo try it out on bit of scrap plasterboard or similar?? Doubt it would spray neat enough without having to get the plastic trowel on it mind?? I dont do much or any bucket coat to be honest.

Definitely Keith. I've used it for a small OCR job and it was good. Only as quick as the mixes can be knocked out though so limited in that department.

i can understand using it if you only do small mono jobs ,but as said not the right machine if that is all you do ,not a dig all machines have there place
