Render onto timber framed garage

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I'm after some advice.I have recently started my own timber framed garage the plan was to clad it in timber however in my haste to get going I didn't check the planning conditions! Oops!

One of the conditions states that the materials must match the existing house, the house is rough cast render.

So my question to you is how would I be best to get a rough cast finish on to a timber frame?

I have read on other posts that people have used plywood then covered it in roofing felt and then rendered on top of this. Will this last, I suppose it would last long enough to get it signed off by planning and then I could clad it in timber.

What about coloured renders? Are these easy to apply? I'm not a plasterer, I m a carpenter by trade but I have just finished roughcast rendering the house using sand and cement and I'm comfortable with that. However it was a pain painting it so I'm up for trying something else.

Any information will be gratefully received!
