Can anyone re comend a good rendering coruse?

its the main skill i lack experience in and am all way being offed external rending work but most of the time have to turn it down.

i don't mind paying out and taking a week off to go on a course and learn.

i no every1 says go work with a spread but there arnt any willing around here they are all moody c**ts and would just use you to mix up.

thanks

Rendering is like anything else in the trade Oasis you just can't do a course for a week or two and expect to know diddley squat about it. Why would a spread local to you want to show you how to do it, hardly makes them moody. If one of them does want to use you just to mix up grab the chance but expect to be doing it for a long while before you have a wide knowledge of rendering, the type of jobs you tend to do can be more problematic than new builds.

even if you did just knock up for them, you could still watch em like hawk.

if youre gonna pay to do a course youre gonna end up travelling and paying for digs on top of your course....
why not ask andy nicely, shuffle across to essex for a few days, bunk down in a travelodge and offer to make tea and keep his spotboard full in exchange for on site first hand rendering advice?

Think your in Glos, somewhere.Get a job and pay somone on here to do it, you can learn in realtime then.I and some others would probablly come and help.

alright lads sorry been away ,. I'm in glos area sounds good, and again i never said I'm ganna do course so i can render?i just wanna get the ball rolling? i was hoping to pick up the basics on a course, i no there is a hell of a lot to rendering.

we didnt say we thought you expected to learn it all in a week...
just that it would save you money AND give you an idea of what rendering is like in the real world...
doing a 3m wall in a day on a course in a temperature controlled sterile environment will maybe give you the confidence but learning on a 25m run on a hot day with a sh't hot spread who does it day in day out will teach you how to make Money! ... ;)

Im pretty much in the same boat as you oasis when it comes to rendering.

Ive only ever rendered on a few occasions and only ever small jobs.

I dont advertise for rendering but if asked to do a big job I will ask a plasterer I know to do the job and I will labour. That
way i will still earn a bit while getting some experience.

I agree with Chris and I dont think a course would be the right option.

Although, come to think of it, if you go to cold trowel you could get taught by that bird!!!

I think ill give them a ring.
