about to start rendering a outside of house, its cold outside, which sand is best used sharp or double wash ? and would you put waterproof in 1st coat and 2nd. would you use lime with it been cold ? cheers ;D
use plastering sand you should be able to get hold of it where you are, and use a, mix depends on your substrate but the following is a basic guide all round mix, 4:1 sand cement with waterproofer follow man inst, and top coat 6:1:1 sand/cement/lime i don't use water proofer in my top coat but some do, also as the weather is gettin damper and colder you can cut back slightly on the waterproofer in your scratch coat, depending on your proficiency, hope it helps mate . if not there will be a lot more opinions on the way to go, to follow .
Using fresh cement definitely helps in winter as does putting the gear on a fair bit stiffer than you would in the summer, getting your plasticiser levels right also cuts down on the water content of the muck in the first place.
