Looking for some help from someone who has first hand experience of rendering a house of non standard construction (pre-fab) please.
The house is of the "Cornish" type where you have concrete slabs slotted into concrete pillars - hence lots of joints and movement. Was planning to SBR slurry, dub out joints between slabs, embed alkaline resistant mesh into sand/cement scratch coat and apply sand/cement/lime finish coat? Is this the best way forward? Job is price sensitive so not looking to use acrylic renders.
Also, concerned about bridging any damp proof course by taking render right down to grade. There is no visible damp proof course - the bottom slabs seem to sit directly on a concrete ring beam? Do these houses have a dpc on the outer skin?
If anyone has any useful advice/experience on rendering this type of house then would be happy to hear from you.
Ta,
Jon.
