Hello Everyone

Im new on here and need to know the best course of action for rendering Quinn lite blocks?

Ive seen a post about sbr slurry, do I just use a 1 part sbr to 2 part cement mix then will a 5:1 mix do?

Do I still need to apply a scratch coat then the 5:1 mix? Should I allow the slurry mix to dry or wait until tacky?

Do I need to just mix 5 L of sbr with 10kg of cement? Or what is th correct ratio?

Many thanks

Email their technical help people ,its good to,have it all printed off and agreed so nothing comes back on you,

If I have read right, you must use rend aid ant pral d
I have never used those blocks myself, they seem to be pushing for modern render system on them, weber etc, I,expect there must be a spec for normal sand and cement too, always best to ask their technical team , just one email and you have the answer, I see Quinn cement been used in London now so it must be cheaper for the suppliers

If it has to be sand & cement then apply a bonding agent like sbr or waterproof pva. For sbr bucket sbr into a bucket and sprinkle cement in until it is a creamy brushable slurry. Apply by brush and while still wet apply a s&c scatch coat. if it is plain render then maybe 5.5 sand to 1 cement with the usual waterproofers. 6:1 top coat. let the scratch set and cure and cover up at this time of year to retain water.

If you can reinforce the scratch with either fibres or mesh, you can never be too careful with light weight blocks. Always tell the builder they was wrong to use them for render and no warranty given.
