Hello.

I'm new to this site...norally do indoor work but I have a quesion regarding rendering.

When rendering the reveals around a window or door...once you have rendered up to the window/door frame...how would the home owner remove the windows or doors at a later date?

Thanks

Very carefully

Well I just want knowledge really.
Wouldn't like a customer to ask me a question and me not know the answer.

All I'm thinking that is that there will probs be 10mm...5mm each side of window and door frames so I guess that will have to be my limit for thickness.

Thanks....altho I've probs answered this question myself haha

They have to patch up if they crack the render....its the window fitters problem.

Render up to the window/door.

If they know the window/door is coming out then leave the reveals altogether and let the customer sort it out....or go back for extra money.

If it's PVC windows then they would prob finished inside with PVC trim or timber? Therefore removal of the windows at a later date would be done from inside by strippin the inside PVC, timber? Minimise damage to rendered reveals.

On terraced houses I've noticed the windows lay on the outside course of brickwork and inside reaveals go upto the frames. Either way...either internal or external reveals are gonna have to be removed unless they will squeeze past.. Thanks for your answers guys

Arh that's great thanks.

Wasn't worth worrying about after all.

Loving this site already

Phew, glad that's sorted..................................................... I plastered a room last week and I've been worrying about how they will rewire it in years to come. Talk about sleepless nights :-0

Was the room just bare brickwork with wires on show before then?

Come on I have my answer now smart alec. Cheers

Actually I thought of using a speedskim thingy but decided to use the wiper blade off a Scania truck instead - there maybe a Travis Perkins wagon doing the rounds with a scratched windscreen round our way, dunno why
