Im always trying to leave the best finish i can on all my rendering jobs has anyone any good tips? What do you think of blue circle to rub up been using it recently finding it hard to sponge up. I would rather use quinns cement , but not totally happy with that either. I use waterproofer on scratch coat then plasticier on top coat what about you guys ?

Do you sponge it to close the face of the render Steve ?

Rub it up with a Float first, then gently rub over with a near to dry sponge. All ways works for me.

When ive finished floating up and its right, i soak my sponge and wring it right out, then go along in a sweeping arc very lightly. Just once along, dont over sponge it cos it looks shite then!

Yes lads i close it in with float first then with sponge to finish just notice a difference between cements i use just wondering what kind of cement the rest of yous use

OPC everytime for me matey, Never had an issue!

Alway have used Blue circle, never had any probs with that.

Try a different sand grade or OCR

will do what ratio do you use rubbing up 22 sand to 1 bag cement+ plasticiser is what i use!

Do it by the bucket, 4-1 scratch and 5-1 top

a good shovel of lime in the top coat mix wont hurt mate

I saw some boys putting a shovel of silver sand into every mix aswell they reckon that a good job too !

black cement or rather very dark really,usually cheep and very nasty,goes off a lot slower than opc and is shite to finnish,bumped into it a few times myself,i think its made slightly different to opc,think it was castle or something like that(even lime wont save it nicksey!)
