Just had a damp course done and now back to brick walls. Please advise me and what i need to do next? I know i need to render the walls but what mix do i us? What plaster do i need?
Many thanks

We always use an anti-sulphate solution on the walls first to get rid of any salts still on the walls. Then render the walls with plastering sand & cement with a waterproofing & salt inhibiting additive in it normally a 4 sand to 1 cement ratio as a scratch coat then a top coat of 5:1 then when thats dry a skim of multi finsh......:RpS_thumbsup:

All depends on the substrate and thickness i would rather do s+c one coat 5:1:1 personally with just feb waterproofer aint what its cracked up to be.

i would just get a plasterer in mate then you wont have to worry about how to go about it, you wont be ripped the prices at the mo are a steel, someone on here maybe do it for you

Use Dri-Coat or Limelite Renovating plaster. Don't rush it though, two coat it and let it dry out before skimming. Good thing about these two plasters is that they are not as dense as S&C so don't suffer with condensation damp as S&C does. Otherwise I would apply an sbr slurry coat with 4 sand 1 cement mixed with either sbr or a integral waterproofer. I prefer to put on one good coat of waterproofed sand and cement and a second coat without waterproofer. Skimming is a lot easier with a bit of suction and helps with condensation.

If it were me i'd use a waterproofer supplied by permaguard or sovereign which incorporates salt inhibitor...depending on background sbr slurry coat on the wall, when tacky 3.1 sand/cement scratch then 3.1 top both with waterproofer in.

What you want is a strong dense impermeable render as above.

Don't take the render down to the floor leave about 2 inch gap.

Heres some info:

What kind of damp course have you had done and did you do it yourself? You can forget any guarantee once the damp comes back.
