Hello, I am replacing the pull cord as the old one had paint all over it and I am moving house so thought I would tidy up a bit....the phrase if it aint broke don't fix it springs to mind!

In taking th old one off it ripped the plaster off it was attached to. I have attached the picture below

Replacing Pull Cord Light - Hole In Plaster!

What is the best way to fill this hole and attache the fixing - or is it best to push the fixing into the hole and seal the edges?

Thanks

If your moving just fix the new one into the recess and screw it to the laths. You could seal it if u like but if its a snug fit i would just leave it.

welcome to the forum by the way................:RpS_thumbup:

Yes cheers mate... i probably should have intoduced myself first but just steamed straight in with a question . . I wanted to make it look nice though that was the whole point of doing it in the first place but I have gone and made it worse... so you rekon just fitting it into the hole then seal the edges rather than filling/plastering it making it level and attaching it?

Thanks

You could fill it with filler or cut a bit of plasterboard to size and then fit the light switch so its flush with the ceiling... my thinking is that its not going to stop your house being sold if you fitted it into the hole... like you said if it aint broke

Your probably right Artisan. I think fitting it into the hole will be the easiest route. Will still need to tidy up the edges though.

There is the matter of the front of the house.... render/paint issues that need adressing but I will start a new thread and upload pics for that one.

Cheers

Gio
