Been doing a bit of work for a mate on his rental property.
Most walls need reskimming to tidy them up but are really 'scooped' so difficult to get anywhere near 'flat'.
Just wondered what your approach is in this scenario?
Skim as is, or bond out first? I suppose down to customer really and what they want to spend.
Just appreciate some more input.
Ta :)

Depends on how you priced it

you tell them the script mate your the plasterer tell them what needs doing and the best way too do it and leave them to make there minds up at the end if the day you can only tell them what's what they will have to spend the money if they want it right same old fukin scenario I'm afraid

True Zolco, very true. I'll see him tomorrow, so find out how perfect he wants it.
I suppose another question would be, would you happily skim a wonky wall knowing it would just be a slightly flatter and smoother wonky wall?

I do what I get paid for, if it's a skim only than that's all they get I'm afraid

Lol, I'd have no work if never skimmed a wonky wall

True mate. The whole house is wet plastered and ex authority and hasnt been done very well. From some of my previous posts, you may know my background, so the only way I can get better is to practice and try and do the best I can and put myself through my own 'apprenticeship', hence the question.

If they are miserable f**k**s , just slap in the PVA and skim it. f**k them. If they want a proper job,get the bonding out and skim. If the walls are bad, board some of them and skim. And before ya leave big pervin Mervin, don't forget to sniff the clients panties when she not looking.

Done one wall today. Was bumpy. Sealed it and used multi with big metal trowel. Rides out the bumps and nice and flat now. Guess it depends how bumpy walls are.. Seal well is the trick

Walls are solid, put 6ft straight edge vertically and 10mm out in middle in places, not across whole wall. I know most walls aren't as flat as a sheet of plate glass, but that seems a lot!!

Ceiling line
Internal corners
External angles
Skirting line

Above are the only thing your eyes are drawn to!

Could hide a dead body in the middle of a wall and still hide it with skim!!!

Just throw it on and use plazi from the start if its that bad.
2mm thickness on finish!

Nobody wants to spend money anymore on 'flat' when they can have just 'smooth'.

Thanks Zombie. That makes perfect sense. Cheers mate.

I'd bond out tbh it doesn't take long , most of the time I don't and regret it trying to fill shite out with skim turns a good day into a bad one and end up going home pissed off with a sore wrist and f**k all money for the trouble ,

Tbh it's surprising how much or how far a half a bag of bonding goes to help when skimming a shite hole room

Do you use plazi exclusively in this scenario CeeVee, or just for trowelling up?

Do you use feather edge Vincey or just do it by eye to get it within tolerance for skimming?

I'd use it for the lot if its that bad. Maybe a nela for the cross.
Its all well and good bonding the wall out but not many people are going to pay you another half a day plus materials for one wall.

Just fill bits that look the worse and that will save filling with skim especially up and around windows, but like the others have said you have to draw the line between asking for more dosh to totally get s**t bang on and just helping out prep ready to skim
Dropsalot got it bang on .

Until the sun shines across it at 1pm lol that's a very site way of explaining it as that's what I have been told in past

Exactly what I would do....... your not skimming flat walls but they will still look nice..... even when the sun shines if you know what your doing........ just don't put a level or straight edge along it as that's when it shows
