Rounded corners - how to square them

Just looking for a bit of sound advice at the moment.

Am about to plaster the front room and dining room in our house which is a 1940s semi-detached.

However a lot of the walls especially round the fireplace have rounded corners as oppose to being square. As we are modernising the house I want to square them off for a nice clean look.

My problem is that normal beading that I am finding is only 3mm and that simply wont be wide enough to attach to walls.

Is there a simple solution to this? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks alot

Knock the corner off and a couple of inches either side all the way down. Get a plastering bead, wider than a skim bead. Dab it on with hardwall. Let is set. Patch in with hardwall. Cut it back slightly so you have an edge to skim to. As soon as it firms up you can skim it

thanks for the post beddy. When you say knock a couple of inches either side all the way down, is that to create a groove for the plaster bead and hardwall to sit in so that it becomes flush with the rest of the wall?

Yes , plaster bead will aprox pretrude onto wall by 50mm or 5cm for diyers , i tend to just cut bead out/nok out , fill with bonding on both side then apply skim bead either way would be fine and if u havnt done much plastering beddys way would be easier for you

I would pva it , bang a bit of bonding on the corner and stick the skim bead on top, check its flush with wall and plumb but leaving enough for a skim coat.

I would normally do it like ct said but I thought the other way is easier to get a straight plum angle for a diyer

Right this seems like a solid way of doing it, once i have it flush with the wall and plum allow it to set and then start the skim job

Get a length of timber the same as height of the wall, ask your partner to hold it hard against one edge and flush with the other. Fill with thistle bonding then got the pub or footy while partner waits for the plaster to set. (2 hours)
Return then ask partner to slowly slide timber away from the corner then Duck!
fix on bead then skim.
