Just wondering the different techniques/tips used for scratching back the mono on the bellcast to keep the angle the same all the way along the wall. i.e chalk line, tape etc.

Cheers

Still not sure what you mean John ? Is it this
Rubbing up the bellcast

Aye. Av been using an I Section so as not to dig into the bellcast like you would with a scratcher . Just wanted the best way to keep the size of the bellcast equal across the wall. If that makes sense

As said i use 15mm bell beads ,so there is no curve in the mono ,i cover the bell ,the same way as a bead ,then scratch back to it ,if you know what i mean ?! lol

with that job John ,i turned a 15mm bell bead upside down ,then run tape along the finished mono and went to that ,with a pointing trowel

Looks nice now but that will discolour horribly in about 6months making the job look unsightly so personally I don't know why people do it.
Although I hear K rend have a render for below dpc?

Been done for 18 months mate , only around the corner from me ,still looks as new , but what do I know !

So the below dpc section isn't holding any water or discolouration at all?
I've not slated your work I'm merely pointing out that you have rendered below a dpc with a coloured render which is something the manufacturers don't advise and also formed a slanted ledge for water to collect/stain but what do I know!?
Why do people do this?
They know why a bell/drop bead should be used.
Using a plain render below dpc to paint can be bad enough but doing it like that just goes against the use of the beads and what we are taught does it not?

Food for thought , can you post some pictures mate ?

Just had a flick through the phone & there's not one with the plinth done, I'm fairly sure you can imagine it though lol.

Even if using white s&c I always use grey on the plinth, I feel it just gives the house a better appearance, as well as not showing every bit of s**t that might bounce up against it, but that's just a bonus lol

Yeah, they look better, would you not agree?
What's that on the left hand side of the gable? The wide band?

Thanks for you help and advice mate

I wasn't advising you at all you dick I was asking why you'd done it knowing it shouldn't be done. When you told me you'd advised them of the repercussions that answered my question.
Obviously you thought I was slating you so you got funny.

And why do you get the immediate hump with anyone that has any input on a thread that may slightly differ from your own??

Clemo last week, & two of us on this thread who you've got smart with for daring to have an opinion.

Rub those Mccains off your shoulder & get to bed
