I am sure most of you must have come accross this problem from time to time where you bond and skim an old wall and after drying rust spots appear on the surface. Usually caused by a hidden nail or screw.
I have just finished a room and 7 of these spots appeared. after digging out 1 of the spots I found it was a metal deposit in the old backing rather than a nail. on this occasion i dug all 7 spots out and patched. (ball ache!).
Rather than doing this in the future can a stain block or similar be painted on to stop the spots bleeding through the final paint coat ?
