thats not S/S just galv renderbeads. i always use plastic outside now , even with float finish sand and cement render

galv is a bib no no for external work they will rust everytime i only use plastic unless s/s is specified

Although i agree with you 100% about external beads most builders will not pay for SS or plastic beads i have done loads of renders using galv beads never had a problem with rust i put it down to using waterproofer and leaving a tidy job , i done a small site of 5 bungalows for a builder 20 year ago in white cement using galv beads there is no rust anywhere and they are still un -painted plus they are no more than half a mile from the sea ,yes there is a few cracks mainly in the gables but no rusting to any beads.

i woudnt like to take the chance church what with reputation and all i normally tell builders it s iether plastic or s/s if there not willing to shell out a couple of extra quid i wont do it most of the local builders no me now and ive got them talked round to my way of thinking

Trouble with galvanised beads is you cant tell if coating is damaged or not very easily, till the ferrous oxide starts growing on it or not

Stainless beads are about £4.80 each delivered from buildfix.

Id agree with that there are builders and builders of course and most Ive seen i wouldn't want them to build me a sand castle and if a had a penny for ever time i has explained the benefits of ss beads i would be a rich boy, most private customers how ever see things different I'm glad to say , maybe the quality of galv has changed over the years with compeition and the amount of firms pumping them out but im still sort of happy to use them still i i have to.

there are a couple of building plastic suppliers (facia, soffet and gutter kind of places) round my way selling plastic beads, compairable with standerd metal ones on price as well.

screwfix do plastic beeds prices arnt to bad either and the angle beeds come with a double arris for scratch and top how good is that eh

stainless steel beads all 10' £87-31 for 50 , stop, bellcast angle works out at 1.74 contact matt day on 01254 52525 or 07881518210, board beads work out about 37p from him, plastic ones from L&D very reasonable , or direct building products who are slightly cheaper but , L&D just round corner from me so just get em there
