SBR as the slurry?

Any advice what you would do in this situation?
Old house, render is lifting off in sheets. Understand that this is due to the suction of the old bricks/blocks. Would it be advisable to paint SBR as the slurry onto brick/blockwork before re-rendering?

The old render could be falling because it was soft sand used, worth checking.

What ever the reason for the old render lifting, a SBR slurry is a good idea. Search mixes and drying times as these are very important when s+c rendering.
