Hi All,

I have some rendering to do on old stonework with low suction and low key,
In the past I have applied a mix of SBR,Cement,Sand & water using a tyrolean gun to give a good key. Can anyone tell me the mixture and is this still a safe way of doing it.
I can't remember what mix I used as it was many moons ago and have looked it up but can't quite grasp the SBR/Cement volume ratio etc.

Thanks

You will receive loads of conflicting advice on this, so if i were you i would buy a pre rend and use that all the major manufactures of rendering products supply it and there is none cementitious version call micro-gobetis you may find this useful, hope i cleared that up for ya:RpS_wink:

micro gobetis is roughly 30 quid per 10 ltr . this would be ideal as it will even out your suction

micro gob around 40 + from a merchant but it goes far,

TBH it is a modified sbr liquid with sand and colour but like worrior says - no need to worry about ratios just waz it on

i get it from encon for £30 + vat. like said it is just a type of sbr mix. its like bondit, but for renders, and its also very good for skimming onto. it says 15kg on the tub but like said i think it is about 10 ltrs. i would use it every day over rendaid. i think rendaid is over priced s**t

Yep can't beat microgobetis for convenience over mixing bags of s**t up. An external bond it is exactly right.

Do parex do a renovating base coat or just this microbegetis? Sorry sure its been asked a million times but how far does it cover

What they spec instead of a pre rend is to mix their mono with lankolatex (sbr) in the first pass as a pre rend, which we have done a number off times with no problems (hand applied mind) but the micro gob is so easy

so can u use micro gobetis over old render prior to a new two coat s+c render ?
Surely it wouldnt give enough mechanical key ?
