Saw a plasterer the other day working on a property....went over for a chat...he had put a 2 coats of SBR on the wall...said he would wait for it to dry then apply scratch...any one else do it this way?

no. use an sbr slurry coat from time to time when rendering and lash it on the deck 4:1 / water:sbr before screeding.

i have before straight over neat sbr, it didnt blow but i dont think its the best thing to do

how else do u use sbr then? the other day i used it neat as its quite wet and rolled it on the wall.. i dint go far at all! never used it b4

sbr is fine to apply neat if the substrate has high suction and a good mechanical key. for example un painted terolean.
