When using sbr prior to s&c scratch coat, do you have to scratch coat over the sbr whilst it's still wet/tacky or is it ok to scratch over once dry also which is a better option sbr or rendaid...?

You are doing it as a slurry ie. Mixing cement in with it:RpS_confused:

rendaid is a great product but SBR slurry applied with a roller leaving a stipple will give a good key, personally I prefer to go on it still green and a little tacky

Only used it the once an found it a pain in the arse to roller on.. It was only a small job an Just thought I'd pick some people on here's brains about it in preparation for the next time.. Can it be used in the scratch coat mix lads?

Mix it with cement , do abut 1sqm at a time and apply s&c scratch cost whilst still wet , if it dries even a little go over that bit again, got to be wet , it will slide a little but that's ok it will firm up after a short time then u can put anther coat straight on it and rule it flat,
i brush it on btw

If I'm doing sbr over any thing with high suction I prime first with sbr @ 4-1 then top with sbr slurry goes much further and easier

Why do we make SBR into a slurry I've often wondered just so it's thicker or is it something to do with the binding to cement with cement

years ago i would answered this , but now ive seen the the light **** em , get on with it

Cheers for replies lads, church I'm interested what's you're view mate, any knowledge on these materials is much appriciated, I've only used it once on a small job and had a mare trying to use it as a slurry it was like the cement was sinking thru it an had a to keep whisking it thru whilst applying with a brush an roller let alone applying it thick enough to key it up... I've never used rendaid any info on that would be much appreciated to, I don't do much of it so confidence with it isn't what it sould be but any s&c render I have done I've always jus give the walls a light mist with the hose an scratched straight over.. Got 2 extensions over light weight blocks an a gable over face brick work to do , I use 4-1 scratch 5-1-1 top over brick work an 5-1 scratch an a 6-1-1 over block work, cheers in advance for any shared knowledge on these materials:RpS_thumbsup:
