Done a screed today 60m2 in a basement, readymix turned up on time 7 cubic meters looked a bit dry tho, off we went, by 11.30 the readymix was rock solid >:( builder phones up RMC , we will have another 3 cube with you in two hours , 2o'clock screed turns up wet as F**k and so hard to lay finished about 4.45 London traffic on a Friday nice just got home...........and my back hurts , life is bollox lads sometimes.

do you cover your readymix over soon as it arrives church? ive heard its best to cover the lot in hessian and give it a sprinkle off the hose every hour or so...
i had nearly 5 cube on my own once (well just me laying, had a lad barrowing)... took me all day and i was struggling a bit with it drying out, but im not the fastest screeder in the world..

kneepads do my frigin head in.. i just end up with screed down in em and its worse than kneeling in the stuff.. i find a bit of dpm does me.. evn tie some round my knees sometimes...

i know a bloke did some screed without kneepads got 10'0000 grand out of firm he was doing it for you should of seen the burns on his legs poor c**t could not walk for a month

Yes mate it was coverd up and it was meant to have a 24 hour retarder in it, never had it go like it before but it was solid not just the top crust

youd think someone would have invented 'screed pants' by now...
like chainsaw pants but with built in waterproof, SEWN in pads... long uns, i think the dickies trousers i got with the kneepad slot dont work.. the pad always end up in the wrong place..

I bought some made especially for floor trades a while ago, they have replaceable pads (which stay in place) and on the front of the knees they have a waterproof material which i think they said was Kevlar covered so it won't wear out. These are quite comfortable if a little heavy but were expensive at about fifty quid, although I've done quite a few screeds wearing them and there is no sign of wear as yet. I think they are made by a company called Snickers Work Wear, I bought them from Baddow Road Supplies in yes Baddow Road, Chelmsford their number is 01245 251084 if your interested.

i wear £3 joggers from primark £6 kneepads from the market and another pair of joggers over top to stop screed getting behind the pads. sorted.

No never met him Grand, I've lived here seven years and never even looked for any work on my doorstep in fact didn't even let the lads up the pub know what I do for living, that is until the site I had been working on stopped, last week won a nice 6 bed house about 3 minutes from my front door and this mourning found out I've just got another one (inside & out) a further 2 minutes away, bliss. Poor van wont be getting warmed up for a while and wont need feeding from one week to the next.

Did you hear the true story about a little old dear who got pulled over by the police in frinton for having no tax disk ? she said she didnt think she needed one cause she never went outside of the gates .

Have just priced a job with about 300m.sq. , I stick to the s&c work as long I've got enough on and sub out anything else, someone on here put me onto Southernmonkey for Monocouche work, is that your thing then Grand?
