Hi guys..i know ive asked bout screw gun info before ,bt today the gun jammed once 2 often and i threw her at the wall which unfortunatelly killed her !!!!!
So i urgently need a good cordless gun.
Been looking at the Makita 18v lithium 75mm jobbies also the hiltis s44000 with attachment....
I do seem to favour the lithium Makita as there a lot lighter adn charge quicker also can use batterys for other tools in the range.
Apparently makita have cured the jamming with this new range ???????
Could really do with some advice from you tackers out there who are battering these guns on a daily basis.
p.s i mainly want it for ceiling work.

Got the makita 18v ion about two weeks ago,on the walls it flies along, still jams up occasionaly on ceiling work, but apart from that its the mutts nuts.

Ditto , coat mine with the silicone spray that plumbers use on plastic fittings , makes hell of a difference , does not stick as much so prevents jamming

Bought the Makita Lithium one, £329+vat. Jammed up from day one. Sent it back to shop to be looked at and bought a bare one to use while away. Second one screwed itself to wall in 1st hour so ripped it off wall and threw it on floor. Demanded money back from Makita cos tool shop wouldn't refund.
Got money back and paid extra for Hilti SF4000A + SMD57 collated attachment, which is what I wanted initially. Makita cordless collated = (german word)e!
And those Senco's are crap too.

how much did you pay tony ........ bet they are not cheap, everything they make is the best my old whisk was a hilti te75 drill, had it 8 years until it burnt out.

Just had a look on the Hilti site as prices are changing all the time. Gun is £435.07 with 2 batteries, charger and case. Collated attachment is £113.35. Got to add vat to those prices. There's usually one or two on Ebay. You can check if they are legit by phoning Hilti and quoting serial number. Any stolen Hilti equipment has it's serial number logged and if it is subsequently sent for repair or a service, it won't be returned.

a lot of money mate, bet it dont jam at that price :)

I use some spray i got from the bike shop that they use for chains, like a silicon, dust wont stick to it so it dos'nt clog, use it on the stilts aswell. Beware of cheap screws though the plastic is crap on them i find

think ive cocked the quote thing up but hey ho..
silicon spray lads... get some 'back to black' (dashboard shine bumper stuff) of the carboot sale or local market for a quid a tin.. thats all it is...

My eldest son is a ceiling fixer and partitionar and does nothing else, not saying he is right but wont go near these automated gizmos reckon they are all crap and he can work faster without just uses normal Hilti Screw gun.

if any one is after the autofeed attachment for the hilti ill get the model number wen i can be arsed goin to the cupboard ill be listing it on fleabay in the next couple of days or make me an offer

I always said i would never use one of them new fangled automated screw guns cos i can nail faster and you cant beat a clout !! then i bought one ,under duress from my sons and have never looked back , can't believe there is so much opposition to em , i love my makita lith ion . I can remember when spreads used to laugh at me when i got my drill and whisk (as they used to call it) out in the early days, for mixin finish, now look ??? ??? were all usin em

Spot on Warrior, autofeed makes loads of difference, I was the same, never buy one etc... but I was working with some tackers last year, they had the hilti guns mutts nuts but I don't use them enough to warrant spending £500 on one so I got a senco, fab! As long as you look after them they'll look after you, I don't have a problem with jammin. The time they save is unbelievable especially on ceilings! It's like having another hand! A great tool to have for sure!

That's gone for £240 + 30pp= 270 with no returns or guarantee, would not risk it , thats a good deal on the makita though mate at that price, just keep it clean and lube with some silicon spray, you should have no probs

Soz..forgot to mention i just a hilt with autofeed attachment.just waiting for dlivery now will post once i used it .fingers crossed it does what it says on the tin
