scribing coving.. were is Tony M's guide garn?

I'm doing a room to moro and will give it ago.. im not to good with miters every time i do coving with my metal triangle i still end up moving it away and filling half inch or more! just cant get me head around coving..

i messure then cut put to gether and bang no match!

with the scribing way i take i i cut it on a miter block and then cut the back out with a coping saw and then this should fit straight on to an uncut cove?

yeah its pretty much as simple as that, but the back has to be right else it wont sit properly. type in coving in the search engine and its one of the first that comes up

That's right. The guide id on here somewhere.

Don't get any coving dust in that new van.

Use the metal thing and go and use 2 short bits of coving and go round mark your corners and they always fit....

Scribing works well as well

The reason your mitres don't work is ceilings and walls are never square.
Do as danny says, if you find you have a sight gap move the two pieces of coving up or down a couple of mm then draw a pencil line underneath and work to that.

your making it sound harder than it really is .a set square and mitre box job done ;). does anyone here use the super cove yet ?

:'( :'( Thats true..

Yeah it was polyyouwreathaine it had more of a plastic feel than paper i thought ::)
no i meant the adhesive was cack it was like a tub of thin sticky decorators caulk(only way i can explain it :-\ )

Have you ever put polystyrene up with gripfill ;D ;D

As said above keep saw flat to the metal like this ;)
if you want to scribe it mitre it then rasp the excess off

I also stick mine up with wickes dry wall adhesive ... way cheaper than cove adhesive and is white and sticks like s**t to a blanket.

I go and pencil all 4 corners first then ping a line works an absolute treat! literally takes no time to cove a room.... or you could do what my old man does and buy those corner bits that stick over the corners...lmfao

I also mitre my joins on long runs makes a better finish

We're talking big gaps here though lewis ones you could park your bike in ;D

Had to use some easifill 20 today what's the 20 mean seconds :o :o
Didn't last 20mins :( mind you it's been in the van ages & it was damp :D
