What he means is:

"Hello all, how are you? Just a quick question, I'm starting a new job on a Monday for a new spread. It's all skimming and the place is really big. What would you suggest? A metre rate or a day rate?"

Ask him how much he expects you to do in a day. If it's well within your ability, then offer him a metre rate so you can make more money.

Depends on ur speed and whats the job like? there might be loads of m2, but then again there might be loads of windows, beading up reveals, arkward walls, small sections ect put a decent date rate in and then ur covered and wont have to break ur back every day. U could always do price work in the future for them and then hell know ur day rate also...
