Just wondering if anybody on the forum can help got a log burner an it's shattered all the finish around the chinbilly breast. What can use is there some kind of heat proof board or finish thanks

Think a company called victas does a heatproof plaster, never used it before but I'm sure someone on here has.

You will need a basecoat and finish coat..

The finish feels like slightly thicker latex screed

Really gummy product but does the job

get it perfect first time aswell because you have no chance of sanding it back it sets absolutaly rock hard, if its getting that hot around the opening aswell try not to use beads as they will be prone to expansion and contraction

Thanks lads. Sum body said to use tile backer board an just paint the smooth side wood this work

Just had mine lined with bricks that leave an edge to plaster up to. getting a wood burner soon. Will see how that goes but hoping its saved me any further work on the weekend
