Should i use a primer on plasterboard ?

hi guys and girls,

i am new to this so please be gentle ... i am having a full bathroom refurb and have a mate who is doing the lot however he has been out the building game for a number of years but does homers from time to time..

anyway can anyone here advise what the best primer to use for new plasterboard... to let you understand i am also going to be using a c2 s1 spec adhesive for 95%quartz tile and i need some advice on what the best primer is to use and is compatible with c2s1 adhesive...
and would you recommend i tank my shower

You would be best contacting the adhesive company and asking them. They will have an preferred method
 
generally on the adhesive instatlation instrustions on the tub or bag it will state which type of primer should be used just the same as most building materials

A thick or thin bed adhesive that can be used to fix absorbent and non-absorbent tiles internally and externally on floors and walls to concrete, cement render, screeds, block and brick. Apply internally to approved building boards (gypsum/cement sheet) and approved waterproofing membranes.

Specification
The ceramic tile adhesive will be a white polymer modified cement based with non-slip/ slump and non-shrink properties and have a minimum tensile adhesion strength of 1.7 MPa such as Drymastic manufactured by Construction Chemicals and shall be applied strictly in accordance with the manufacturers instruction.
Surface Preparation
The surface to be tiled must be firm and clean, free from dust, waxes, paint and other contaminants. Steel floated concrete floors must be mechanically roughened, washed thoroughly and allowed to dry prior to tiling. Prime with Primax on external and smooth surfaces and Primebond on internal porous surfaces.
