Skim Beads

Hi all I do a lot of kitchens and get problems when the electricians chase the back box in the wall so deep especially on old houses with lime render and when you fill in chases and over skim walls creating a perfect edge around them told electricians to pack them out to allow for plaster but never happens it not a problem if being tilled but if being painted I was wondering why their isn't a skim coat bead on the market to help with this problem like a pre made stop bead same size as the back box light and socket ones any one now of any

Cut a blanking plate down to size of back box, plaster to it, then remove. Hey presto.

Theres some paper ones out on the market to keep the boxes clean, never used or seen it myself it might helps you out if you struggle

Dont get me wrong if another trade makes the effort for the plasterer then i leave everything as it should be nice and clean etc for them but if they leave loads of cable hanging out deep or proud backboxes then i teach them a lesson !!

I agree with you mate if the Sparks wires are neat in the boxes and there just flush with the wall for skimming I clean the boxes and even pull the wires out but T***s take the piss a mate of mine went mental on site the Sparks was wankers and leaving 2ft rat tails out the boxes so he snipped all the wires to an inch inside the boxes and skimmed the house lol needless to say he didn't get paid for the house as the re wire cost more than the skim coat lol

Ask @SpankySouthport about snipping wires lol hes a big lad too so he gets away with it

Did same wen was in early twenties got booted of the job was a big nursing home in Durham and paid my digs aswell for the week..bet sparky thought jumped up little s**t think I was 21..

I've had a sparky say to me it only takes you 20 seconds to clean box out I said ye only takes u 10 seconds to tuck wires in cheeky t**t

And it only takes half a second to snip one.(make sure to pull it tight before you cut).
