ok lads I'm 40 this year been in the trade since I've left school .when im skimming now days first coat on second on in bout 10 minute flat as possible and one trowel over when time is rhight .y do so many trowel a wall bout 50 times lol
 
End of day If it was ment to have 1 trowel we wud all give it 1 trowel y on earth wud we give it at least 3 trowels after 2nd coat! Its because its ment to have it
 
There is no rule book on how many trowels to finish plaster. Somr over do it some dont give a s**t and hope the decorater will sort it?? So long as the end result is correct then 1 or 6 etc thats all that matters. But i do feel that you @carys are deliberately winding others up ;)

Two trowels should finish a wall m8 have finished walls whith one trowel and they look ok no complaint from customer u get the second coat flat as pos and the timing is rhight it happy days no nead to over trowel a wall it polntless

Because so many so called plasterers can only skim and dab a board or two they have to make themselves feel more special by having a van full of super carlos fandango finishing tools and a face book photo thingy full of pictures of how shiny they can make a wall .

U said u give it 1 coat,2 coat then 1 trowel..2 trowels with water after its been flattened is how we work..each to there own
