So many times people ask for kitchens to be plastered after they been fitted and I normally refuse ...but this job I felt for the lady..some duschbag had one coated the artex ceiling which was not to bad to do..but the electrics and patches around I can't believe my eyes...a well known diy store plan supply and fitted..to be fair the electrician was off rated peeps so not too surprised something was going to be s##t..but sockets stuck in with sealant..gobsmacked why the planner people for kitchen fitting don't advise getting order of work right.

I just had the same today with Howdens, I meant to skim a kitchen after damp proofed by other firm, they left walls 2" out of plum , waves likes you wouldn't believe and 2 kitchen fitters cutting and routing worktops while I'm trying to skim, dust and shavings everywhere, p1sstake this kitchen game is

That's a piss take skimming while lads cutting, was top coating other day and some lads came to take off roof next door 80 years old black dust every where

Why were the sockets stuck on?
The box fronts were 30mm back so I think they must of thought sticking was the only option all they had to do was pack the back of the box...when I undid the screws sealant was everywhere photos don't do it justice I had peeled a lot of so I could work out what was going on

Whilst there's always a degree of sympathy with situations like this, but it is tempered somewhat.

People get a quote for a new kitchen from a builder. The quote will include not only fitting the kitchen and floor, but the plastering, plumbing, electrics and floor prep. They then go to the nearest shed and get a quote. The shed quote comes in a few hundred cheaper, and the customer goes with the cheapest. Cue the tears and tantrums when the job's half done cr4p.

These things happen daily, it can upset any of us.
Sparky wasn't too expensive if you ask me especially if you greater London area, being lazy that's another matter

The few kitchen fitters i do work for are spot on, they know how to organise the rip out, first fix sparky,plumber...then me, then they come back and fit..usually goes quite well, some minor hiccups sometimes:rayos:...but goes well most times...and they are tidy, reliable etc...
and they are all small one man band types. They dont do direct with howdens,b n screw,wren.etc..( these coonts try and sell you a fitter too and that is where the problem starts).customer picks and buys the kitchen ..and they do the complete fit.....works well for all.

Are u using the plastic trowel now for your laying in ,I usually use the Refina Sflex ,overall r u finishing yer work earlier now with that and the s*p*r*lex??

Pretty sure Howdens don't fit just supply and they aren't supposed to recommend because of these type of problems. I guess they have their favourites who buy a lot of kitchens but it's not their fitters, the others on the other hand will go with the cheapest but charge a lot for them.

Nicely positioned trowels in your pic @theplasterman , sponsored by Nela lol. Liking the plastic one as well I see.
I put it on with Marshalltown but funny enough started flattening the hob bit with Speedskim CUs it was soaking and needed leveling around there..came up nice so I used nela plastic to flatten and finish the rest n a little of supaflex...there also is a small s**t ragni red handle and a even smaller one my mate ground down a old s**t trowel that got just under the sockets ..that one comes in so useful for little soddy bits.

Not used for laying in myself just flattening and finishing for me..came in useful on that arsey area.

I would never skim a kitchen that has been fitted but with a plastic trowel I would feel a bit better, probably their main advantage but sadly missed lol

No always had Refina 20" my second one after 10 years is on its last legs. They stopped making the 20" which was a shame, so I got a 20" Nela which is still not broke in to finish with, after six months. Sound for putting on coz it keeps its shape but not able to finish with it, but would like a flexey but can't keep track of what's what lol

nice tidy job that :D I hated skimming fitted kitchens.... pissing about round sockets is just a chore as well..

I went to quote a kitchen in September 2010  anyway when I got there a new kitchen had been fitted ffs
I said to him you should've had it plastered before the kitchen was fitted mate, he said I didn't know that its our first house :rayos:
He told me they had the kitchen from b&q & they supplied them with their fitters, who were polish :inocente:
Well it wasn't the best fitted kitchen if ever seen but hey ho. There was Artex inbetween where the new cooker hood was, loads of weird & awkward bits to get over & round, bits of boarding, skimming over Artex etc etc so I quoted high to not get the job.
But I got the job :rayos: so anyway I did it for them :envidioso
Then after that i did a lot of work for him at that house & also worked for his relatives, so sometimes it's worth doing these sh1tty jobs (y)
As long as it's covered up properly & masked up, kept clean etc it shouldn't be a problem plastering it. ;)
