Hi, i am going to be skimming over my plasterboarded kitchen walls which have been taped and the joints covered with Gyproc Easi-fill (was going to finish like this but have now decided to skim the lot). Can i skim straight over or do i need to pve it first? Thanks in advance........Martin

Many thanks will do, i have another couple of questions, one of the walls i have to do is quite long and i`m sure at the speed i plaster at i am going to have to take two bites at it, is it ok the feather the join edge down then do the second half the following day? Second question, any small dinks etc in the finish, what is the best filler to use or should i just mix a very small amount of plaster to smooth off? Thanks again for any help........Martin

best doing it one hit....but if yer going to do it in 2...just feather the edge off and make sure you give it a good soak before you join the two parts to control the suction. As for filler, just look at the wall as you're going and fill it in as you go. Don't use the crap on your trowel that comes of when rubbing up though, use fresh stuff from the bucket.

Pva about 12 inches over where you finished the day before just to blend it in easier, do a search for easi fill in the search section this is the stuff ya need, dont use plaster.

you dont need to pva over easifill did a job in victoria using paper tape put on with easi skimmed straight over it dont suck in

why don't you skim the first set then cut a nice sharp line into it about 2-3" from the end and scrape away when still green. skim the second set up close to this but not touching, then cut a line into this also and scrape away. then dryline the two sets together like a board joint. don't try and blend in two sets, you'll never be happy with it mate. or use a skim stop bead then joint that over with easifill :)

You can blend them if you go straight onto it while the other wall is still setting and it goes in seamless and you dont need a stop bead just run a piece of scrim up where you are gonna finish and pull it off on your last trowel you then get a straight line to work into.

Thanks for all your help guys, i have a small number of low spots which i want to put easi-fill in, do i need to PVA them first as the plaster has gone hard now?.........Martin

Pva yes...it goes soft underneath otherwise. plus sucking in your skim at a different rate than the rest of the wall

No just use easifill straight on it

PVA joints
Skim in two if needed plent of water on the joint and brush it in.
Give it a mist coat of paint when dry
if there is any snags catch them with easy fill and sand
