after spreading and flattening in is it a no no to wet and dry trowel anyway you want or do you have to follow the way that it has been spread ie if spreading up and down do you trowel up and down etc...

if your skimming on board and u apply 2 coats very neatly and evenly with no lines.... u could get away with it. i have done it that way in the past... i hardly ever skim on board, but i bet some of the guys who skim board all the time. get it near enough flat even before troweling up, so you could probablay get away with cross troweling. but if your doing reskims and the walls are a bit out and the suction is higher..... you what to trowel up smaller areas in a up and down motion mabye then cross trowel it after you've down that twice. it'll give it a bit of a sheen and it'll give u some idea what the wall will look like when painted. the one reason not to cross trowel after you've layed the two coats on... is if its not layed on evenly and you have lines. when you cross trowel what tends to happen... is that u just run the trowel accross the wall and your not getting rid of the uneven parts and lines your just smoothing them over....it'll look fine untill u get one customer who wants there room painted with silk and it'll look shtie. hope thats helped

if this helps i trowel it the same as i lay it on twice then cross trowel it once
