do the scrim trick mate.. lay a line of scrim were you want a brake.. skim halfway over this,
1st coat lay on flatten
2nd coat lay on flatten then just before first polish rip of scrim like you would making tape when painting, should leave you with a nice edge to skim into the same day or next!

I think it would need at least 3 if not 4 coats to cover over the grass, not sure what sort of prep would be best though, PVA, WBA, SBR or perhaps something from the Fisons range.
