Small Area of Plaster Not drying Out

Some advice please?

I have re plastered my bathroom.

I did this ten days ago, using bonding and Thistle Multi Finish.

One small area doesn't seem to be drying out. The rest is bone dry.

The area in question is on an internal wall on the first floor. There is no wall underneath it. This was taken out to enlarge the kitchen downstairs and an RSJ fitted. There are no water pipes in this area of the wall.

I did remove an old shower tray which had been leaking for a while, although the bricks behind it were left bare and open to the air for several days before I plastered. The plaster in this area is no thicker than other areas which have dried out.

Could it be that the bricks behind the plaster are still damp from the old shower?

Is there any way round this or what am I best doing?

Yes. The bonding will be sucking the moisture out off the brick. Put a blow dryer in front of it. Get a lead without a thermal cut out switch.

This is the area. I drilled a few holes in it today to see what is was like underneath and to let some or into it. Don't know if this was right or wrong!

Just get some heat in to it ,it will be ok I was expecting to see worse tbh a bit of filler and some sand paper in a few days should be ok.

LOL..... Its going to be tiled, so wont see the holes!

Thanks bopper. Will direct heat not crack the plaster though?

No worries bud it will prob always stay discoloured now bud couple of days heat, pva some tiles ,job done

Says its water based synthetic primer for absorbent and non absorbent surfaces prior to tiling.

I do have some PVA too

Avoid the pva.
