Did a small toilet ceiling this morning 6x3 anyway 2 hours done. £40 pound please, well this guys face said it all , what
he said £40 I thought it would be about £25 he said. it's only a toilet ceiling and you have bits and bobs to do small jobs like this in your wagon. My rebuttle was you carnt mix waster and powder into a bucket and turn it into a wet plaster can you ? well no he said, then I said can you place it on the ceiling with out droping all over the floor. well no he said thats why I ask you. I said you ask me because am a proffesional plasterer so you pay me for this service.

What pissed me off ,is when he phoned me I said anything from £30 to £50 and he said that's ok. He was just trying it on with me.

I never be able to get that money freerider , it was just the fact he thought he could dictate to me the price he thinks it worth. forgetting the fact it's a skilled trade am doing. I will tell you what really pissis me off ,when they say it will only take an hour to do , all these experts on plasterering who know feck all about ihe job.

You get cleaver T***s who stand over over you telling youhow good there mate is at plastering but to busy to do his job, yer right mate am thinking your a boring t**t. Who bought the dustsheets, bucket, drill, trowel, van, I fecking did . Nearly forgetting my nicked milk crate what all plasterers should have as standard kit . The thing is spunky, money is worthless when we do get it I bet it is a struggle for yer mate with young children to bring up.

spunky they were laughing at you on your way out because you probably had s**t stains on your trousers

Give us his phone number henry. I'll ring him and tell him it can be done for £18.50...................................painted.

Very funny bubbles I like that . Maybe I should drop a leaflet in his door saying plastering work wanted re skims average toilet ceilings skimmed for £18-50 plus painted.

I think 40 notes is cheap mate, as mentioned the public are T***s. If you break it down bag of finish, little bit of pva, dustsheet, tool wear and tear and diesel, then there is not alot of money in that job. Oh and of course you have got to take tax out of that :RpS_crying:

The thing is henry he was being an ungrateful t**t - especially as you done it on a Sunday. And you were too cheap mate - even a ceiling that size I would have thought the punter was getting good value at £80 all in. Metre rates don't come into it either, it's what YOU (and the job) are worth:RpS_thumbup:

The fact is I had the pva and multi left over from other works so it cost me f all. Last week I price to skim a down stairs bog £140 I thought this guy was going to have a stroke . They think because it's a small area it will not cost a lot. What I really like to do is take a diy book on a job , and open it on the page which tells you how to plaster . I would just leave it were the owner could see it and just see what he would say.

tell them its not your fault its a small job. i always say the time it takes me to do that patch, i could do the whole wall

The thing is Bubbles it's hard going at the moment with prices. Last year I was getting £2,000 to re skim a 3 terrace labour only . The same guy is now saying he can get then done for £1500. So what do you do it's all a game of bluff mate. I turned it down once I done it for 1500 I can never put the price up again with this guy.

Minimum charge mate! We aint doing this for fun! This is a weird trade, you get some people that watch you and say what an art plastering is and how they can do most things but not plastering etc. Then you get the other kind that think your only worth min wage! Most skilled trade there is to take a bucket of water and some powder and turn it into a perfectly smooth wall.

It's not rocket science though is it, just spread s**t on a wall & trowel it a few times :RpS_thumbsup:
Well that's all i do & charge a fortune for it:RpS_biggrin:

£80 minimum for me. It's just not worth doing for any less, unless you were doing them all day, everyday!

What would we all do if we kept getting knocked back because some persons were just under cutting all the time. I suppose out of work.

We do all get knocked back, thats the problem! and half the time dont get the work! domestic prices have dropped but am still getting pretty good ones down my way!

Well my week gone like this monday tuesday on the treatment table . Yesterday and today done for 2pm ceiling and walls a bedroom . Yesterday skimmed the 4 walls then gave the artex ceiling scrape and painted plasprime onto it ready for skimming. Today skimmed clean up gave the van quick wash home for 2 pm.
I got £250 for that. Friday hallway to skim ceiling and walls 12 ' long £150 . So thats £400 for 3 days am happy with that. So thats 200 m2 on site flogging yourself or I would be , because am fcuk .

Yeah that aint too bad matey, 250 for bedroom sounds cheap though! would rather that than work on site mind! dont see the fun in that, like a ******* machine!

Henry you washed the van at work?:-0
Can't remember the last time I washed my van.:RpS_biggrin:
I'd have gone straight home mate :RpS_thumbup:
