Hi
What do you guys think is the smoothest through coloured render for customers who don't like texture?

Yes, I rubbed up monorex gf a few years ago and it was hard work because it would tear if you didn't hit at the right time.
I wondered if there's any thin coat that might be suitable?

SPS Envirowall do a coloured flat render but it is temperamental getting a evenly dried out colour. I have used K rend dash receiver before but bear in mind where it dries fast will be lighter and where it dries slower will b darker.

1mm or less acrylic will be the nearest to smooth.
 
I did wonder about the 1mm top coat .
When I floated the monorex,I was told be careful to rub it the same amount all over because that can cause a colour difference
 
I wont recommend mono for sponge , unless you give it some texture, I mean not very fine finish. Colour won't be a match do to the fact you are using more water to bring the fat out and that's the reason for the colour to be lighter than the sample. On the other hand can be much quicker and safe finish than scraped.

Used some again yesterday, I love it , photo doesn’t do it justice tbh of how nice the gear is

I’ll take some better shots when go back to seal it and it’s dry, when it’s dry it’s so bright it hurts my eyes

No haven’t tried it Keith said it’s better sponged so I just did what he says

Tried a few different thicknesses dan again Keith was right trowel on tight is best and then wetter orange sponge then either a magic or I use a gyproc joint very softly as it’s coming to a finish
 
First couple of pictures were 2mm ish then the rest were thicker probably 4 ish and the last around 6/7 , I wanted to take the blues off but customer wanted them to stay before I get critiques

I find the sponge a better finish on it. But u can use a plastic float on it.

I use that float frist.

Then I use the magic sponge to finish it.

That's the vk3 in the picture vk2 is finer finish.
 
Thanks for all the information, the vk2 looks exactly what I've been looking for.
So you just sponge it, to get it that flat?
I've never used a sponge float before.

Do you use a basecoat with it?
