Speeding Things up

Allright all,

I have been working on site on price £3m2 aint bad, been trying a few methods to get the speed up so I can earn some more money.... I dont do one coating cos its gash but what I have been doing is this.

Say I have 4 biggish walls (plasterboard) I stick 2 of them on first coat then go back to the first one and 2nd coat it (I dont have to flatten in between coats cos I have learnt to lay it on without many lines and evenly) the 2nd coat the 2nd wall. I the go and do the same with the other 2 walls.

I found that you had more time.... At first I would stick all 4 on then go back and 2nd coat but the first coat would have pulled in too far and the finish was albe it acceptable I wasnt happy.... But this new way seems a lot easy and a littlew more relaxed but you are still sticking the same meterage on.

Once that 2nd coat goes on it holds up perfect.

whats you site guys experiences??

At the weekend I have been renovating a house, beautiful job really satisfying knowing that it has to be perfect.... spending time setting beads and flaoting its a pleasure!!

£3 a sq is the b*ll***s for these times, we usually mix 2 bags up strt laying on me on tops the boy on bottoms get another 2 mixed up an on the walls then i usually drop back and start second coating while mixes up another 2 he will carry on with another couple of walls or small ceilings-reveals whatever really then jump on flattening what i have second coated it works well for us we can get a 110mtr corridor on in one hit an about 70-80 mtrs in rooms

yep that sounds like the same principle as us, I aint gonna lie I am not very quick on price but cover my money... need to stay later than most... I cant be bothered for doing a s**t jobn needs to be good.

Cheers

Danny

i know what youre saying mate its like a rolling set........catch it whilst its still green without flattenining ........i thought of doing the same but it seems like to much coordination for a drunkard ;D
i put it on and trowel the first coat im doing upto 7 1/2 bags per set on met tod in this weather

Hello,

Well I am back with my old firm, I do all my own knocking up ect. The others work better on their own and I work better onmy own. Last week we joined up thinking it would work but one of the other spreads thought he could rest a bit and me and another had to carry him so we banged that on the head.

TOday was all right, once walls are 2nd coatedthey hang for an age and even if they go hard a little bit of water sorts it out.

Get fed up with hear "f**k it, its only a cuboard" does my head in!! If its good enoughto be skimmed then it needs to be good.

Danny

you know when youre scratching youre arse waiting for it to go off danny chuck another couple of walls on mate

yup and then re scrimming cos the shite stuff drops and you get a rats nest cos the crap scrim always has a loose strand!!

Beading aint too bad I start on another site tomorrow gonna be an arsehole with those dumb HSE tossers walking round telling me I cant listed to a radio or wear a vest all that s**t.

Happy!!

Danny

have you got a lab mate?........we had a good flow going he could lay on so wed get 5/6 bags on he'd go beading prepping the next room and id look after it then move on then you can get youre three sets on ......youre not treading on peoples toes either cause youre prepping as youre going

thats still a lot for one bloke in two hits i must be slowing down in my old age danny if yo want to stop you scrim all coming down dont lap them also the hse will win because if you get reported to site agent more than once the main contractor can be fined up to £2000 and they will pass it on to you

use Fibatape for scrimming, best stuff out there stick and never frays......as for 7 1/2 bags to a set mixing by yourself......im a fairly fit boy, love plasgtering..love pushing myself can hit 100m if pushed and im feeling mental..but 7 1/2 bags ....per hit.good quality..even in cold conditions thats silly big...thats what 5 ish 1st coat then 2 1/2 ish on second .......sounds a bit................................

lol really?? didnt know that!

bet your arms killing you..feck me .........im thinking plasterings a life for me im in for the marathon not the sprint...if i carried on at that pace , i wont be able to hold my dick in 5 years let alone a trowel ;D......
