Hi,
I have been asked to do this spiral staircase, I have skimmed half of the barn already, the issues that I have only done 1 before and that was onto grg board. I have floated and set many times because I prefer it to D&D.

The exterior of the staircase has to come out 50mm wich I will float and set using bonding, the boarding is dogs***, am I going to be better using patch repair mesh over the joins on the boards because it is too wide for scrim?
The internal they would like me to do as well.
I am not sure that I have enough room for the internal due to the fact that there is nothing between the wall ans the stairs at some points, I can move the stairs out of the way 20mm but that is all the working room I have but they must return to the same position!

I have attached some photos (if i got it right).
Any help/ ideas please.

Thanks again for any advise.:rolleyes)

Cant you just double up on the scrim ?.

Does the customer want the outside perfectly round or are you going with whats there ?.

Good luck, and keep us updated with it.Looks like one of them potchy numbers.

I would board over it again with 6mm board going around it rather than standing the boards up, staggering them joints.

Yeah, bend contour boards around. Link Removed

It's a two man job bending those puppies around a tightish arc like that though.

Perfectly round! Over boarding is what I have suggested, got a funny look and the builder walked off, he doesnt care I am on a price.

Did the builder board it like that? If so tell him to skim the fu'cking thing.

It is do-able as it is but would be a hurtful ballache and I'd rather lick my own anus than do that on a price. If forced I would make a template out of ply or something, bond it and drag the template up. As it was picking up I'd trowel some mesh into the bonding.

u could just bond out the flat part of the board in a arc and then round out the whole thing with skim same on inside but that stairs shouldent be there

can you not leave a couple of boards leaning against a wall over night so it curves buy the time you rock up in the morning and overboard it. or what danny said and lick your own anus....................:RpS_unsure:

them stairs want coming out farked if id be farting around all that and if your on price and the tackings been left like that it needs redoing before its skimmed, you could mess about bonding and meshing it but if they are ment to be getting the areas ready infront of you, then they have failed miserably on that bit

Doesn't it do your head in when walls like that should be something to show off your workmanship and some fkin idiot boards it like that :RpS_thumbdn:

The joys of someone else doing the boarding! ....."the plasterer will sort that out".:RpS_cursing:

The latter is a saying which boils my pi## every time i hear it and if i do my reply is always " yes and only a she ite tradesman would say that "

Totally agree with all the above i would be saying to customer that it was not ready to plaster and that it needs re-doing properly if you have quoted to skim you are there to skim not f about with floating someone elses f/up. If your on a day rate then suck it up and take a week doing it then when they ask why it took so long point your finger at the builder.
Oh by the way can anyone gues what my week as been like:RpS_laugh:

Bond it and use a template out of ply to rule (as such) upright and skim freehand, alternatively plastic stop bead the top and bottom (Packing out where necessary to form a good radius) bond out and rule off the beads then skim.
