Has anyone bought them splash brushes which are about £16 a throw off BG. We must get through a few in a year
from the likes of wicks or BQ. I did get into useing them spray pumps but plaster fecks everything up in time.

i usually buy brushs from a decorators shop they cost £30 but they usually last me a year or so, i also gave up with the spray bottles plus with a brush you can get your corners nice and tight so i opted away from the bottle

i tried a spray bottle but i prefer a brush, i just use the 4" yellow handled brushes they last about 6 months and are only £4ish

i think mabey henry needs to take care of his brushes a bit more haha. admitedly my wetting in brush is the only one that lasts me but thats because i take special care of it, it lives in a special box made just for it and talulla the trowel all in a plastic sleeve

Yer have to look after your trowel mate. I take mine in the house every night , I would be gutted if that got nicked. Are you pulling my plonker when you say the brush is kept with your trowel.

dont let your brush sit in the build up of gooo in the bottom of yer bucket ,put a hook to hang it off side of bucket.change your water after each guage if possible and wrince in clean water end of day brush will last for years.

Thats were the old spot board comes in handy rock, keeps it out of the bucket. I do like a spray bottle for the fact it's clean water all the time with it. Yer your right if you leave in the bucket you end up splashing little bits of s**t into the skim .

i use a spray now cant believe i went 28 or9 years using splash brush ,but i still like a nice brush for cleaning trowel etc .its the dirty water and crap at the bottom that turns them into a bob marley look alike

I suppose at the end of the day, the trick is least water the better finish more water more fat to surface more cleaning your trowel. The only time you would use loads of water is if the gear starts to set quick and water is the only thing which helps bringing back to life.
When I think back we use to put loads of water on the skim , you think we was putting a fire out LOl.

true henry back when we used alot more water the beauty of a sprayer is it uses very little water and as you say its clean and accurate.i never wash my trowel into my bucket when troweling up i scrape any fat into a rolled up bag then wash.saying all that we are a funny breed and if you ve been shown a certain way to do things its hard to stop even if wrong

What I am please about rock is plaster in 25 kg bags now and not the old 8 stone bags that's a big plus for me LOl. I have often thought about about buying a bag of lime and putting a couple scoops in the mix just to see how it would pan out. I did think of putting little plaster paris in the mix just to see if it would set it that bit quicker instead of hanging about waiting for gear to go.

Can you remember the old boys use have a billie cans I think that what they called them to brew up in made out of metal . No hard hat no hi vis vest, no steelcaps boots, plasterers hod size of a dustbin and a wooden stick to mix with, yer it was harder then .

Yer a lot use to wear a tie and a suit jacket more joiners did and used hand tools planes etc.

Old boy I learned with said his dad was proper old school and used to tip his hat when he saw the site boss and called him master s$ith or master jones etc

I swear I was talking to an old bloke today about 75 yr old who was telling me they used to joke about going so fast they could choke themselves by trowelling their tie into the wall:-0
