Spray texture method

Got a job coming for roughcast and smooth bands. I'm thinking of either CPI scratch and texture coat then paint or monorex two passes same or next day in colour.
The issue I've got is the Xl gives 5 secs or so of wetter render on startup after stopping because water keeps trickling into the mixing chamber for a couple of secs as the dregs in the water hose inlet empty. Not a problem on regular mono but for texturing it is.
Do you think it's best to mix and pump the base on and switch to mixing the texture coat by whisk and pouring it in? This way I'm hoping to achieve a consistent finish and possibly switch to single phase and slow the speed right down to get a nice med texture which is hopefully gonna be somewhere between sprayed acrylic in a coarse grain and the heavier blobby finish you get when spraying 3 phase full pelt?
Any thoughts chaps? Richy brown?

rich will prob go for option b as he is mixing mono down wet and pouring into his swing, we use a gravity fed but didnt notice a problem roughcasting with any excess water, are u sure this will happen still with the water turned right down as it will be?

Goody complete guess but if you used the gun with the shut of valve would this put a bit of pressure on the mortar and sort of help it congeal with the water

Don't Care if that's wrong it sounds good lol
