Anybody use stabiliser and find it much better than pva?

also...what scenarios do you find it best to use stabiliser rather than pva...

thanks

i like to use both, stabilizer works over distemper and slows suction quicker than pva

imo

Yes this is what has made me ask as I have used pva on distemper and had poor results. I am coming accross a lot of distemper now too.
think I'm going to have to invest in some and try it out

Is there a way of telling that it's distemper on the walls? A young buck here so bit before my time really

You can tell by the look and the feel but you can't tell if its been painted over so itcan still cause the plaster to fall off,pva causes it to emulsify , I normally scrape it off, but if I felt confident enough in the stabiliser I might chance it,haven't yet though..

Ive only seen this used once and it was blue does it make the job easier as it looks pricey for 5L from B&Q its £25 quid!
