Soak it in vinegar. Its called a Forced patina. Airborne taught me that. Also sand paper will help

Yea Half mate, best of both worlds fella i get 2 xmas dinners. Its wide like a spatula and long like a speed skim. Am only slim but av got a fast arse like a bees wing lol :RpS_thumbup:

why do you want it black??

Arti once the carbon steel has gone black (Patina) it will stop oxidizing meaning that it will no longer rust, all your trying to do is stop the orange rust that carbon is prone to as its aggressive, the black patina is also a form of rust but non aggressive.

If left over a period of time and maintained it would go black naturally, like i believe Gibbos trowel is.

What are these trowels used for?

Same as anything else mate, they're on about carbon steel trowels as opposed to stainless, Carbon is prone to rusting so if you force a patina it will stop this process.

First time I have heard this to be honest, something educational every day, but nearly always buy stainless these days..

I wonder if the black ones are wider and longer than the white ones..............:RpS_unsure:
