Taping up to stone or brick

Corners, edges, make such a huge difference to every job being the first aspect of a room or facade that the human eye will pick up...well most human eyes lol....If taping up is required to work quick to adjacent areas which are to be left as they are, some surfaces (wood, plastic, painted walls) are nice and easy to tape up and mask off, to then wait for the right consistency to take back and close in without leaving any marks and a nice tight edge...limestone lintels, stone work and brickwork, for me are so critical in keeping sharp, i am always lookin to improve methods of achieving this...tape can be more trouble than its worth....So, for this mainly and the benefit of many other spreads on here, i wanted to start a thread on what methods and products people use...currently working on a lime job on a barn conversion where the guy i'm helping out leaves the tape on the beams and cuts back with a blade after its set??? which on the areas he's complete looks a bit village :RpS_thumbdn:
