what are nic4's im trying to do my tax return and it says you have to pay nic4 on profit between 5000 and 40000 is this right if its true ill have to pay 2000 aaaaaaaargh wtf
 
Class 4 National Insurance Contributions. It's just extra tax because you've worked hard this year. Well done, you've helped reduce the defecit.
 
yep just paid for another poles family tax credits for a month :RpS_mellow:.......think i sorted it i said yes and lost some money wahey
 
I leave that s**t to the accountant. Mine seems to be very good i do about a 50/50 split of site work and domestic and i always tend to get a refund for a few quid
 
I dont pay NI ... not sure why :-) accountant sorts everything out for me :-) I claim the lot every gets claimed :-)

as far as I am aware the classes as in class 4 all stand for different contributions such as pension fund health fund etc. as a self employed I think you can opt out of the pensions bit and reduce what you pay but I could be lying
