Hey lads
as times are hard in my household at the moment i was wondering if any of you guys do your own tax assessment! and if there is any online sites that make it simple for you to do it yourself???  trying to safe pennies many thanks guys and all advice would be gratefull
 
I went to business link, had a couple of hours with an accountant who showed me how to prepare accounts to GAAP Generally Accepted Accounting Practise. Invaluable ;)
 
If you go to your local tax office you can get someone in there to sort it out for you as long as you have all the required documents and receipts, personally i use an accountant as the one i have is mint i dont ever pay anything they just take it out the rebate they get me back every year but a mate of mine used to do it and said that its pretty simple just takes a morning to sort out.
 
you will save more money by using an accountant, try brian alfred you just fill in the form send it back they dont need to see recepits and they call you to tell you what they can get back for you if your happy they process it if not they send it back to you, the best accountants are the ones who want a percentage rather than a fixed rate as its in there interest to get you more back.

I,m confident that I will pay the absolute minimum of tax owed to Revenue and Customs, by doing my own accounts :)
 
I took a look at brian alfred looks pretty cool to me gonna give them a tinkle tomorrow and see A) what they can do for me and B) see what they can do for you guys.... might be on to a winner here chaps!

ive used them for the last three years i always get my rebate in seven days from the time i agree with them to process, they are quick and the fact u dont need to produce recepits is a godsend,

im sure your right but accountants know the limits of each area we can claim back on if you go over then you can expect an investigation,
 
Personally i never mess with the axe..sorry tax man.
Remember he will send you to prison he has no life no remorse.

1. keep ALL receipts for everyting you purchase for your buisness. petrol, materials, strationery, stamps etc,

2.Try to put evereyting you buy through the business too. ie buying a new computer for chrismas for your son..... or buying a new machine for the business ??

3.Take your missus out for lunch ........... business meeting put it through the books

4. dont buy crap tools,buy the best you can afford ...... there deductable usually 100%

5.Any clothes you buy...claim for them just keep receipts ( there for work ! ) ( try to avoid buying dolce and gabbana for work though ).

6.wife wants sat nav cus she keeps getting lost ....buy it ,but put it through the business

7.freindly with your mechanic ???? next time the missus car goes in for service ask him for receipt to your van ......and claim it back ( if you no what i mean ? )

8. adverttising is deductable ...so why not advertise ???

9.Try not to buy materials with CASH ...use card through the business ............. got a cash in hand job for a mate ? buy materials with cash .......dont put the cash you are paid in the bank.

9. Dont put £15000 a year through the books and live like a king...remember if you get inspected they can go back 7 to 10 years and the y will do.

10. Every thing you purchase think can i put it through the buisiness ???? example ..... last week i purchased a light / lamp a table and some paint as i was redecorating my dining room put it through the business as im building a office at home.

11.Keep all phone bills for mobile and house put them thorugh ( you can't claim back the 0898 and premium porn numbers ).

12.You may possibly even get away with mistaking a weekend break to spain with the missus as a business trip ????????????????????

13 REMEMBER TAX DOESNT HAVE TO BE TAXING >>>>>>>> Lol

Yep, thats a good grounding in tax avoidance as opposed to tax evasion ;D, glad that I,m not the only one, who likes to axe the twax.
