THAT job

I mentioned a job that i went to see a while ago for a girl i went to school with, well i've been waiting for the call off her and i got it tonight and it went something like this, hi steve sorry to ring so late, we've got the kitchen fitter in at the minute and the plasterer we've used has not done all the walls, theres a bit where the washing machine will go and a bit around the door. its not a lot but the builder is spitting his dummy out and the plasterer wont come and do it. is there any chance you could do it? its not alot.


erm a, NO!
b, if you'd have asked me to do it in the first place i would have done it all properly and you wouldnt have to get someone else in,
and c, dont give me bullshit a few days before saying your going to be ready for me soon.

one up for professionalism, 1 up for getting what you pay for, one in the eye for the punter...
i'd have gone and done it though, charged her a premium, and got a 'reputation point' out of it..
gloating without actually gloating is an art form perfected over many years of being polite but cynical.. ;D

haha i'll have to remember that chris. if she'd had phoned asking for me to do the whole thing and they needed it done by monday, i'd have gone at night to help them out. no chance now. i loved it when i said im workin all week and the next few weekends and she said.. well its only a little bit. well if its only a little bit then the shite excuse for a spread should have done it in the first place, aaaah see you've made me rant again!

i'm proud of myself and i think i deserve one of those little stars that spunkys got!

fairplay but why dont you call her back and say you can do it sat but you want a days pay and lay it on that you have to rearranged jobs for her to help her out.you never no you could get in with the builder and she will pass your name on.just a thought

because the builder thinks his plasterer is s**t hot, he doesnt seem to think the spreads in the wrong. and i don't wanna work with people like that. plus i've got work booked in for weekends all up to xmas.
