HI.
Looking for recommendations for a thin coat acrylic or silicone system for the gtec renderboard, looking for a fairly smooth white or ivory finish, have been told Parex is ideal for the job!
Is there any other more cost effective brands that have been sucessfully used.
Many Thanks JR.

Can't comment on other brands but parex have a bba on it. Have done a big job with their dpr system. One tip I'd suggest using wide self adhesive scrim on butt joints not plastered mesh. Use mesh and basecoat in tapered channels but don't put strips of mesh bedded in basecoat on butt joints. When the sun hits it it's like a jigsaw

Hi Atomic (Great Name) - welcome to the forum!

I believe that you can only use Parex onto the Gtec Render Board.......

Have you already put the Gtec Render Board up? If yes, Parex it is....... If no and you want to have a bigger choice of renders to use, look at some other Render Carrier Boards that offer other protential renders as well as Parex.

If you want some further help or assistance (maybe biased towards another board - Knauf Aquapanel Exterior, with more render choices, including Parex) - contact me. My details can be found on my profile.

Good Luck.

gtec boards or knauf aquapanels,
dont be tempted to go for a cheaper carrier board, we did an ewi recently and the developer used a cheap cement board and in order to render over it with parex dpr and issue the warranty for the system, we had to use there key guard product over the lot as well as solid fixings and stitching all the joints prior to the insulation, ending costing another £2000 because the developer though they were being cute and saving a few quid per board.

It is all about choosing the right products in the right application (usually with each other) and then fitting / applying them correctly.

There are lots of options out there at lots of different price brackets - it is about what the client / you want, then the support you get / want / need through the process and afterwards....

Yes - usually you get what you pay for...... but if you use them properly - costs can be saved, and then made in the long run!

Thanks for the positive comments guys!

The projects I lose on price, then get a call a few months later - "can you come and assist / comment on these problems?" - ERRR - NO! Use our products, get our help.... (some products have any warranty / help gone as soon as the cheque has cleared!)

That'll be them beancounters that talk about 'units' not 'houses' :RpS_thumbup:

The Truth is on a renderboard over framed building the better the product the better - you want a high performing render - not a cheap alternative that will just stick to the board, it has to perform over a moving structure for a long period of time.

Have a professional contractor on board
