Have been thinking about useing pigments to colour plaster when skimming. Last year when I did some rendering
we had to use pigments to colour the lime render from white to cream turned out ok. So maybe could be used in plastering to give a wall a whole new look when skimmed when you play about with mixing colours.

Ive done it and yes it works to an extent but you dont seem to get a through colour more washed but looks Ok if thats what you want.

if you use one coat machine plaster, knuaf do a kind of sealer for it so you get the perfect matt white finish but you can wipe it down.. dunno what its called, just read it on the knauf site...

I know a couple of spreads who drink in the same pub as us who did a refurb on a pub where they used coloured tile grout with multi on some chimney breasts. Think they used a dark/black colour grout.

It looks alright I suppose, but I'd argue venetian plasters piss all over it.

I also got a leaflet through the door in the summer last year advertising coloured plaster finishes, don't think it was venetian at all - think it was more acrylic.

they also mentioned something about not over trowelling it. Think there's less control compared to venetian - so you could end up with textures and patterns that look a bit shite

White finishes

It was said on a previous post that white finishes can look bland, no movement etc. I did a white finish on a previous job and it looked ok.
Just getting our bedroom done at the moment and me and the missus have agreed on a neutral polished feature wall. She's quite keen on the idea of white. I have explained that this could negate the idea of the finish but she's still pretty keen.

from the venitian section...

what wrong then, with a white, perfect finish, sealed... women love it...

I have added pigment that i use for venetian stucco (liquid pigment not powder pigment) to knauf finish and it looked great. Dont put too much on, turn round and lay down you dont want the first coat showing through so work with it while its wet. Make sure you measure water powder and pigment and use the same measurements in each mix to keep the same colour. Dont use powder pigment cos it will streak, leave pigment dots and look crap, Good luck and have fun!!!

FFS chris agree on white mate else you know its gonna end up pink !! It always does

If you start to flatten in, trowel up early and give it an extra trowel than usual its great i get my pigment from VP supplier in northwest were are you based. I also used LTP penetrator sealer after to seal it which is a matt finish if you want a gloss finish you could use beeswax
