As above, anybody used this?I have heard a few good things said from a couple of mates.Do you fella's rate this or am i chucking good money away and should stick with the PVA?

Hello,

If someone else is buying then thistle bond it is good I use the wickes version a bit cheaper and a nice colour pink.

I only use it now on painted surfaces that have a glossy finish.

I used the wickes equivalent for the first time last year and its fantastic stuff used in the right circumstances i.e. no suction or real dodgy backgrounds, bloody messy to roll on, but when you lay board finish onto it you get a loverly job, dead easy. handy to keep a tub on the van..
needs to dry properly though, preferably overnight..
and it f'cks your roller...

not used much of the bond it agents , but am getting use to gyp bond, its ok if you don't have to get out in one day, if it is one day then go for good old pva method.

u can use knauf betoncontakt same day and is cheaper i think, not keen on pva either get lots of different suctions or pva wont go tacky, been caught out wif it before, i d always use bond it /betoncontakt. never used wickes tho is it ok?

Heres a little tip to keep the roller sleeve for the next one........

Wash it with running cold water!! works a treat I got fed up with buying new sleeves!

Wickes bonding agent is made by Knauf and its pink, costs £12.72 for 3 litres, good on gloss and surfaces which wont take PVA.

dont it go hard anyway day after danny??
tried washing mine in a bucket of water same way i do pva rollers...
still, ill give it a shot...
i do use the medium/shaggy pile rollers though... they hold shitloads of pva ;D

Just a thought...
is this where we find out that knauf betocontact is exactly the same stuff as 'wickes plaster bonding agent' but in a different tub and cheaper by far?? what does it look like??

just had another 'thought' (thats 2 today).. anyone tried one of them rollers with a guard on the back to stop splatter??

It looks like Sandtex. I've got some in the van. If I remember, i'll take a pic tomorrow for you.

thistle bondit best gear about when you roll it on roll upwards from the bottom of the wall cuts down the bits flicking on you, you can paint ceramic tiles and then skim them bg speck says so so must be true

well they both look identical in the pot an when dry and the green dye BG use must be more expensive than the red Knauf use ???

does seem its all essentially the same stuff.. i.e. polymer based sealer laced with fine sand, so whats the cheapest / best value per tub?

thats what i was thinking, but is it sold under the name betocontakt for less money elsewhere?

i water qypbond down a bit .....helps the spreading/splattering.....dont go too mad though

betonkontack comes in a bigger tub nearly twice the size
but is it twice the price? bein as wickes is about 12 quid for about 4.5 litres (its 5kg tub i think, some one check me i aint used any for a month or 2))

just clocked tonym paying 50 odd quid for 20kg beto, looks like the wickes is the better buy per litre then...
