Hello all.
Just asking about to find out if anyone has used thistle UniFinish. Is it any good?

Cheers lads

Don't trust it personally will it stand the test of time ? Not convinced it's no hardship putting pva on walls especially when u get ya labourer to do it ha!

I asked Jewsons in dumfries to price it for me and they were wanting 12 a bag. There's no sense in it at that price.

Hello all.

Think I'm in a good position here having agreed to be part of the new trial after being pulled because of adhesion. Failure

In a word it's useless
it a impossible to use on anything other than board or very low suction backgrounds

No chance over bonding or the like it pulls on those instantly

It stinks

It mixes very wet

When put on its pulls straight away if it's not neat you've got no chance when you trowel it it wets up and takes an age to actually go off to finish it

It's basically not fit for purpose in the end I had to use pva but that made it hang more

Think about the maths it retails at about £9-10 a bag
pva can be had for £5-6 and will do 2 rooms (more if it's 5-1 stuff) so it doesn't work out viable that way either

I usually get the ceiling and a couple of walks on in a gauge (average double bedroom) this stuff I was farting about with a couple of square metres

If it isn't flat when troweled on because of the way it pulls you have to put more on to even out which when you trowel up gets wetter so sags add to that you waiting forever to get a second coat on

I'm sure you can tell I'm not a fan and the test manager I spoke to said they've had a lot of bad reviews from spreads so it may not go back out after the finished research and tests are done

I wouldnt use it, whats the point, ..doesnt take long to pva up with a roller, and you know its right..

My point is there are so many unknowns in re skims, even experienced lads look at jobs and decide what product, what prep to do etc, unifinish is designed asif all these unknowns will not matter and that's not true, they have caveats off course saying it's the users responsibility which makes
it all pointless

Av used it twice. 1st time was good, 2nd time was a fewkin disaster.......................:rolleyes)

Why would u lose £25 a room in profit for the sake of priming the walls which takes about 20 mins. I'm sure no1 charges £75 an hour

Times that a week it's 125. A month 500. A year 6k. Just coz u can't be arsed to pva a room in the morning. Bit silly really

It's a load of shite you would av to be off ya teets to pay more money a bag they wanna start bringing prices down on products rather than trying to create something to rip us off even more a holes :RpS_mad:

I'm going to go watch some of the promotional videos produced by BG on unifinish and will then report back my findings on the product.

I used it today on painted walls.. it did exactly what it was meant to.... it is pricey though....

the set seems slower as well but it troweled up ok
